Delving Deeper [Into Madness]: Act 1, Scene 3

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Morning dawns in the camp, and there is a nervous energy about. There seem to be more guards about than usual, and Lena herself is speaking to a haggard looking guardsman wearing some bandaging. Torn mail and a crushed helm indicate his injuries were far worse, perhaps even life-threatening, before another nearby priestly figure presumably attended them.

Allikhain is up and speaking with Landro, seemingly preparing to restore him once again.

Stephen will maintain his meditations until around 07:45, but will be receptive to any mindlink messages anyone (including Miss Gallus) cares to send.

Jack will roll around in his bed roll, pretending to sleep, but trying to overhear conversations around his area.

Jag will walk up and wait a respectful distance from Lena and wait till the guard is gone to see if she will share the news.

Axid will meditate until he is at full PSP or the group moves out.
You are talkin' to the holy symbol wearing,
Ruby ring wearing, kiss stealing; Woo!
Praying/healing, beholder riding, griffin flying
Son of a blowgun, and I'm having a hard time holding these Aboleth shoes down! WOO!

Ke'Sha prays to the Lord for guidance and looks at the bandaged soldier and a possibly new recruit. He will comply with his campanions request to remove the effects of the negative plane he is so familiar with and then go to Lenna, his minions some distance behind him. Ignoring the ovbious reluctance all feel about his loyal subjects, he asks Lenna plainly, "What was that about? Attacks on the camp becoming more fierce?"

(OOC: Whom should I cast restoration on? I can role play it.)

This looks serious. What happened?” Stephen asks when he sees the injured guard.

[OoC] I thought maybe Steve was going to be doing something that would delay his PSP recovery until later in the morning, but looking over the OoC thread and my private thread, I'm not seeing anything. So he's up and ready before 08:00.

[Ke'Sha can use his restorations on Jack, Allikhain eill deal with Landro]

As the various members of the group approach, Lena continues her conversation with the guard. So you were at your post on the edge of the camp, some ...disturbance happened in the jungle not far away, and suddenly you heard something to one side and that's all you remember... She says, as the injured guard nods along.

A second guard chimes in. I came as soon as I heard the scream. It was hard to see in the darkness, just lookes like a heap of scales, but when it stood up it was as big as a tall man. Had a long tail and a pointed snout full of vicious teeth, and hookrd claws on its feet like an Eagle's. It tried to drag Sherf away, but I hit it with my crossbow. He says, patting the heavy implement still in his arms. I think that surprised more than hurt it, but the damned thing leapt ten feet over the pickets like it was nothing! Like a bullfrog! It was gone into the jungle in half a beat. Course I shouted for the priest, and kept watch but... it was quick as a viper I dunno that I would have had time to do much if it came back.

The pretty paladin grimaces, We're going to have to post more guards. The dogs didn't react beforehand?

Didn't have one at that post. Since they walk a circuit mostly, one wasn'y nearby at the time. They're suspicious of damn near everything in that jungle, though. They're good dogs, just not used to this environment. Nobody expected a rotting jungle in the middle of the mountains.

We'll have to fix that. I want one at each post and a circuit. It means a lot more work but we can rotate them. I'll speak to the priests and arcane camp support and see if we can get any magical assistance with alarms or something similar.

Lena turns back to the party members. Some of the local predators taking pot-shots st the guards... not ideal but we're dealing with it. How are the preparations going?
