Labyrinth OOC

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

I thought giving permenancy/semi-permenancy boost to the party members, like finding traps, invisibility, fly, protection from evil, strength, cat's grace and such. Maybe conditional teleporting people back to camp + HP heal to 1HP to prevent TPK.

Ke'Sha would REALY like to turn the dragon into a draco-lich, but I think it is a very long and costly process. Yet, might be more important to him than saving Sorril. :)

Doesn't the dragon need to be alive to be turned into a dracolich? I recall a long process involving a potion that the dragon must drink in order to have a chance at becoming one. There's then a chance the dragon becomes a dracolich, and if not, just flat out dies. That kind of implies you need to start with a living dragon.

Protection from Evil on everyone would be very nice. That way we couldn't be Dominated into doing something we didn't want to do (and we get a saving throw anyway).

So Restore Youth (reversed Age Creature) restores 1 year per level of the caster, to a minimum age equal to the target's chronological age. Limited Wish ages the caster one year. How do those interact, if using Limited Wish to cast Restore Youth to yourself? Does the aging effect from Limited Wish apply before or after you've been youthenized by Restore Youth?
It could replicate the spell, but wishes have to be carefully worded even if they are duplicating other existing spells (but a little less risky). Restore Youth would not remove/ negate the aging of the spell that made it possible to cast.

Lord Torath wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 5:09 am Also, could we get a Resurrection for the Bronze Dragon via Limited Wish? I think it could be a great ally for us.
Limited wish could potentially do this, though wishes and limited wishes themselves can be tricky to word and appropriately and have unintended consequences. It might be possible if the spirit of the Dragon itself is willing. Keep in mind, Resurrection makes it impossible for the caster to cast other spells or fight for a number of days equal the the xp level or HD of the creature, as they will require bed rest until then and be aged 3 years. So if Allikhain attempted it and were fully successful, she would not only age 4 years total but would be bedridden for several days. In addition, the party would lose the service of their most powerful Arcane magic user... I really don't think she would resonably agree to that.

Lord Torath wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 5:09 am I know Ke'Sha keeps trying to summon an efreeti to get three wishes out of it. Does he have any particular plans for those wishes (keeping in mind that efreet are known for doing their best to twist any wishes they are forced to give)?

Your character Yelb actually did use semi-permenancy in our first run through this dungeon for Detect Magic and See Invisibility.

There are other spells that allow conditional teleporting, but I think they would have to be individually researched.

Yes, the creation of a draco-lich is a very long and expensive process, and Lord Torath is correct; it must be performed on a living Dragon. In addition, it must be an Evil dragon and the Dragon must cooperate. Bronze Dragons are not evil. Even so, the potion that must be created requires several spells and other potions that the party does not have. Even with all of this, it only has a 50% chance of working.

But the elemental doesn't know where camp is if cut off by a rapidly closing portal ;) [/ooc]
Why do I see it going berserk when it can't follow through, and just wrecking the whole dungeon.

Lol. Is't that basically what Ke'Sha did with the other one? Just sent it to walk through camp and go kill whatever it could in the dungeon?

Considering her high intelligence, I expect she could find a safe wording to get a 6th level spell safely cast from the Limited Wish spell. However, as she's an NPC and you as DM are controlling her, it's up to you to decide if she can find such a wording.

And since we are all highly experienced adventurers, it's very likely we've come across at least a mention of the spell, and possibly even seen it in action. Certainly the concept of reversing aging exists enough to make wishing for it a reasonable option.

Hmm...
Could we use Resurrection on the bronze dragon and then follow that up with a Limited Wish to remove the exhaustion that comes with it? So Ke'sha doesn't need to spend 12-18 days recovering?

At the end of this adventure, Allikhain can youthenize all but one year of the unnatural aging from casting it.

Ke'Sha is willing to try. After all it can't be created a draco-lich and it can't be raised as monster, so dead or alive, is pretty much the same, and alive it may help surviving to create other undead.

Im good with the block XP, you have enough to track already.

I prefer the knowing a floor is cleared, and I think with Jack going back over places with the new sigils, should hopefully confirm that for the characters too.

I may tweak the block xp up a bit since the typical class individual xp seems to add a lot in other games. I'll have to think on that

I think this game is a more "team effort" than the others. It seems every interaction here requires everyone to take part.

The other games you are running, the characters really stand out more.
Especially a certain Kender lol.

True, I'm just trying to make sure I don't 'short' players on xp. There may be a handfull of level ups that won't hurt in the endgame. I suppose I could add to story xp if I feel there needs to be further adjustment

Just to be clear, to this total I should add my +10% for having high Prime Requisites, but not any of the normal individual awards, right?

(I'm not complaining, or anything; just want to make certain I'm doing it right. When I'm DMing, I generally toss all the individual awards into the same pot with all the group xp, which is I think what you're effectively doing here.)

Thanks!
