Act 2, Scene 1: "A Flicker of Hope" (Main Game Thread)

The 2E AD&D Homebrew Sandbox world of Genwald is large, ancient, and magical. There are many undiscovered/untamed places. The Sun Kingdom (European style, Late Medieval Human NG Monarchy) is the basic Campaign area, but PCs can end up anywhere.

The scars of ancient battles of titanic proportions mark the land. Wild magic zones, fantastical terrain, grand adventure, political strife, and even artifacts of wonder await. Choose your part and come make your mark on the world. A wide array of unconventional races and classes are available.

Overhearing the conversation, if he can.
"We can certainly try to free him. Once we are done here, I will attempt to cast that spell again."

Also if he over hears something of the items.

"I can't fight well with a shield, but if any of the other items would help protect me while being in the fray, I would appreciate one of them."

"I rather like the cut of the green cloak," says Linar. "That's if no one objects."
As an afterthough he adds, "And perhaps sometime we might exchange coinage or gems for pearls, around 100 gold value, such that they may be useful in an Identify spell."

Findalsip picks up his gray cloak and dons it. Resisting the temptation to pocket all of the pretty gems, he picks up what came from his pouch and leaves the rest for the others to reclaim.

Saying nothing about him not actually helping to kill the creature Katten narrows her eyes.

"Shiny things get spilt between everyone, we find place to sell." She picks up the emerald, the shiny green thing somehow feeliy attractive to her. "Hurry chopping thing." Drawing her axe she severs its head (if it hasn't already been done).

Indendien looks at him quizzically. Like these two pearls? she points to the two sitting in the pile of gems.

====
The wild elves have no need for the treasure so an even party split [Jordek, Noct, Katten, Bull, Linar, Fin] would come to:

3,000 gp/ 6 = 500 gp each

4370 gp in gems/6 = 728gp 3sp 3cp and 2 spare cp between everyone

If anyone wants to keep gems we can just decide which they keep and deduct it from their cut of the cash.
If the group agrees to take the 100 and or 500 gp pearls out as 'community property' for identification spells in the future it would be
4270 gp in gems/6 = 711gp 6sp 6cp 4 spare copper (standard pearl exclused only)
3770 gp in gems/6 = 628gp 3sp 3cp and 2 spare copper (both pearls excluded)

Bull

Hangs on to the shield. Barring any opposition.

=============

Split it all down the middle. After excluding the single 100gp pearl, the rest should be split up. No reason to waste a 500gp pearl when only a 100gp is needed.

Linar agrees, "Keep the pearl."

======
100gp pearl will work for one Identify. Fine. Is it inferred that the pearl is powedered? (If not it might be, ahem, subsequently recoverd).
But will a 500gp pearl work for 5 Identify spells?

the pearl is whole, one could crush it to powder if some care was taken. I don't know how one would propose ti 'recover' a pearl crushed into powder without magical means

No, the 500gp pearl would only work for 1 casting, the descriptions 'a pearl of At Least 100gp value) it could of course be sold or exchanged for cheaper pearls

Katten will take something she can carry, nothing more, she has no real need for treasure and 'things' she will take one of the stones that take her fancy, perhaps One of the olive green Peridots and leave the rest. And she will take the quiver.

Feel free to divide the rest of the treasure between everyone else

Jordek finishes with the basilisk before accepting any treasure that the others may have split.
Knowing he was no help with the battle and wanting to earn his keep, he does his best to skin the creature in an efficient manner.

Listening if anyone reads the journal. Nocturno will prepare to cast the spell on the Woodsman.

Once it is quiet, He will cast the spell.

"I'd suggest keep the two pearls. Later we should try and exchange the bigger one for several smaller ones that are the value of the smaller one," says Linar belatedly.

Nocturno recites the prayer again from the scroll, this time before the petrified woodsman. As he conducts the ritual, he comes to a part where he hesitates slightly, trying to recall exactly how he performed it previously. Slowly he touches the man's forehead and the spell vanishes from the scroll... moments stretch, but nothing happens...

The others finish collecting the scales from the basilisk.

===
Nocturno uses the spell Stone to Flesh from his priest scroll
(Priest level - Level to cast)*5%= chance of failure
(3-11)*5 => 40% chance of failure, 60% chance of success
[1d100]=74, failure!
Nocturno does not read the spell correctly

-shield [Bullock's preference]
-quiver [Katten's preference]
-ring
-cloak (green) [Linar's preference?]
-cloak (grey) [Fin's preference]
-saddle
-Divine spell scroll

That leaves Jordek and Nocturno. so far there is a saddle and a ring, lol. I think Nocturno has the only mount

"Is there another one of those on the scroll?" asks Linar (in elven). "If not, is it time to get a night's rest? Guards as usual, of course. Myabe tomorrow we can go hunt some worgs, if there's nothing reallty urgent calling us back to civilisation?"
