Kleos shoves the torch in the Cube and then helps Beilion pull the rope to get Martin and Sim out.

*Though Beillion and Kleos are pulling hard on the rope, their weights are almost equal to that of Martin and Sim. The addition of the sucking pressure of the Cube allows the doomed comrades to be pulled only slightly back towards freedom. If Evis was helping, the comrades would have a better chance at survival.*
*Martin takes another 6HP, while Sim also takes 6HP in damage*

Evis drops the puts the down the flask and scrambles over to the rope and begins to pull as hard as he can, worrying that his light frame and frail stature wont be of much help...

Re: Down the Dungeon Way - the actual gaming thread
*With Evis now helping, the threesome are able to move their comrades 5' (used 1d6) towards safety; however, Martin is down 12HP of his 15, while Sim is down 6HP of his 8. Unconsciousness will occur at zero, while death will occur at -10*
*The Cube's digestive juices work upon the two striken comrades once again; further damage to Martin is 4HP, putting him at -1 and unconscious; Sim is hit with 1HP, putting him at 1 and about to fall into an unconscious state. If the comrades are pulled to safety on time, the only questions on everyone's minds should be:
#1 - will Sim's plan of setting the Cube on fire with oil and a lighted arrow work?
#2 - will the others remember the plan, so it can be implemented?
#3- will the Cleric be able to heal the pair?*

Sim's legs begin to kick up and down as he struggles for a firm footing with which to help pull himself free.
A tiny white mouse scurries to the end of the rope (having jumped free as Sim dove into the cube) and lends its minuture furry might to the tug-o-war.

Beillion looks to see when he can heal at the nearest chance. "Get them clear! I will heal them when they are away from it." He is willing to move if he can get a clear chance to cast the spell on the other hand. However, he is making his desires know to the group.

Evis starts muttering a prayer for strength, hoping that the gods may take pity on them or at the very least, spare the lives of his comrades...

*With a mighty pull, the threesome pull their comrades 3' which gives them a one foot clearance from the Cube's current 10' x 10' home. Martin takes another 5HP in damage, putting him at -6, and close to death, while Sim takes 3HP and is now unconscious at -2.*
*While the Cleric attempts to heal, Evis and Kleos should be implementing Sim's plan*
*Within the shadows, two sets of amber eyes, smaller than those of their mother, stare at Snickerpuss. Glistening teeth are licked with tongues, wet with the anticipation of a meal as their gazes drift towards the bodies of Drake, Martin and Sim. "Mama will be so pleased." , one creature whispers to the other.*

Snickerpuss drops her end of the rope and quickly scampers over to Sim. She sniffs him and squeeks concern before clambering atop his slime covered body and curling up into a little white ball of fur on sims chest.

Re: Down the Dungeon Way - the actual gaming thread
Beillion moves forward to cast the lower level healing spell on the person with the most severe injuries. "Oh, let us pray to several gods this time. Selune in and the gods of luck!" He jokes but he prayers to Selune in silent prayer to guide his hand as he channels the healing power into the most hurt person of the two. He calls out. "Grab the single potion from my pack, too!" He shouts when done with the prayer.

Kleos is angry at the fact they are being defeated so easily.
We cannot afford to waste resources. We must rest to regain our health this time.
Kleos then grabs another torch and Sim's oil. He gives the oil to Evis.
When Beilion clears the bodies pour the oil onto the cube and I will light it on fire. Beilion take the others to the entrance as quickly as possible.

Re: Down the Dungeon Way - the actual gaming thread
*Over a two day period, Martin and Sim are able to fully recover. Sim's robes are a bit singed due to Kleos' wielding of the torches at the Cube.*
(OOC for Beillion: Your "single potion" has 3 droughts, so I'm assuming you're using only 1, saving 2, and allowing the days of rest to finish the healing process)
*Evis' applying of oil liberately over the 2 day period has destroyed the Cube, and now leaves the treasure(5 glass vials, a silver dagger, mace, a short sword with a ruby in the hilt) open to the taking.* (OOC - don't forget the dwarf's axe)
*The party needs to decide; do they solve the puzzle on the door and continue on within the dungeon, or run away screaming like ditzy teenage girls?*

When the rest of the party is ready.(Kleos will wait till the others give him the ok.)
Kleos will activate the cake key for the door.
To make a cake you must be precise. It is not a pastry, so you cannot eat this pastry.

[OOC] First things first... [/OOC]
In all his movements, Martin will carefully avoid the area of the portcullis trap that spelled Drake's undoing, and will be very careful about moving through unexplored areas in general. The slightest touch of something unseen or unexpected will be enough to make him reconsider any move he is making, so as not to plunge forward into danger.
"We can't leave Norman lying here like this. He will start to smell. I mean worse than he already does. We need to bury him."
Martin will set about digging the best grave he can, using Drake's helm as a shovel if no other tool presents itself. In the process of moving the body, he will collect anything of interest - although he will not leave coins or other valuables behind, their value is not of particular importance. But if there's something unusual, Martin will gather it, magpie-fashion.
Bringing the body, wound in Drake's bedroll, to the grave, Martin will intone the best prayer he can think of, given his spotty knowledge of dwarven religious lore:
"Great God of the Dwarves, whatever your name is: Norman here was a good dwarf. But now he's dead. All dead. Go-through-his-pockets-and-look-for-loose-change dead. So I did that, and now we give him to you. Take good care of him.
"And he owes me a string of handkerchiefs, so if you could see to it that I get those, I would appreciate it. Meanwhile I'll be holding his axe as collateral.
"Amen."
Martin will then cover the body.
That being done, perhaps it's time to see to this treasure. "Boy, stop playing with that door. You might get hurt. Let's see what we have here, first."
[OOC] How much of it survived the fight with the GC? There were several coins, five vials, a mace, a dagger and a ruby hilted sword last time Martin looked. [/OOC]
Edit by LWW: is someone taking Drake's axe, or burying it with him? All the treasure survived, and lets make it 6 gold coins that have fallen to the floor, since we started with six pc's. Might want to bury one with Drake, and each party member get one, but that's just a suggestion.
Edit by Stik: As I said above, in character, Martin is taking Drake's axe.
Seeing as we're looking at the treasure after the burial has been completed, we'll just push one of the coins into the earth above him.

Re: Down the Dungeon Way - the actual gaming thread
"Once we bury him, we need to get some order to the chaos." Beillion suggests to the group. "I'll go towards the middle of the group and ready all healing spells if that is okay with people. I can bring magical light to bear if we want. If we have a clever lock smith to go ahead of us, we might be able to organize around 'im."
