A little surprised, Liriodendra takes Angel's offered hand. "Liriodendra ti Corylus. Outside official missions, I'm mostly called Liri. Though some, in reference to my colouring, call me Hazel."

She's dressed in brown leather, breeches and a shirt, snug-fitting clothing that would allow armor to be worn over it.

"Where should I meet you at daybreak, then?"

(ooc: Angel is rather... Pro-active, lol, there is friendly banter/arguments between Angel and Bastian, she'd seek to get one up on him)

"It is a pleasure to meet you Liri." Angel's hand grips hers for a moment, the grip is tight and firm, her skin is hard from years practicing with the sword. "I suggest we meet at the Bungalow? Do you have a mount?"

Angel pauses a second, then without waiting for an answer she adds "Captain Filaris has invited myself and Bastian to join them for a drink, would you like to join us perhaps?"

Daos inclines his head slightly at his introduction to Liriodendra. He is a lanky, pale young man wearing deep purple robes and carrying a staff. The sweet smell of rose petals and other spell components lightly emanates from his body. His ears, with a mild point to them, stick out of his light brown hair and he wears a well-trimmed goatee upon his chin. He takes her in with his hazel eyes, analytical, as if studying a new specimen previously unencountered.

Liri acknowledges Daos's greeting with a similar nod. "Nice to meet you, Daos." she says in a friendly voice, otherwise respecting his silence and scrutiny.
To Angel, she says: "Yes, I do have a mount. I will meet you at the bungalow at sunrise. And no, I'm not going to join you for a drink.

Not that I wouldn't want to, but I don't think it is a good idea for an elf to go into the village tonight. There is tension between the elven and human residents of Orr's Bay, as you perhaps have noticed. Earlier today, a house in the elven settlement was set on fire, its inhabitant severely injured.

This is why I - and Maughus - will be joining you, to bring a first-hand account of what that strange creature is that was found here. An elf and a human, so no one can accuse the other race of withholding or manipulating information."

"I am disappointed, but I think I understand." Angel nods simply at the comments about the Elves. "We welcome you to our group."

"Thank you." Liri nods to Angel and the others. "Have a nice evening, and a good night."

With that, she turns to go back to Cirin and Cuevin, she will leave the villa with them and spend the night in the elven settlement,

Bastian's and Angel's reception at The Pond Tavern is warm and friendly, with a side order of good-natured abuse. Jokes about trolling for bonehead fish abound.
There is some talk about the day's events, exaggerated, of course, seeing at the stories are third- and fourth-hand at best. One story even features an assassin from the Scarlet Brotherhood entering the elven home with an eggshell bomb containing a tiny fire elemental.

The walk back from the Pond to the bungalow is quiet. There's a curfew tonight, and it is being obeyed, for the most part. Nobody is on the street but guardsmen, although they travel in pairs, or larger groups, and at times look as though they would feel better holding hands.

As Bastian and Angel arrive at the bungalow, they catch sight of a figure in the darkness at the corner of the house. The figure detaches itself from the deeper pool of shadow and resolves into the bizarre-looking man who had shown up at the villa.

He is wearing armor now - the light chain and brig of an imperial ascultāre, although he is completely without military insignia. Seen in this light, in this uniform (ratty though it is), Maughus looks every bit the imperial soldier in his prime, well, from one side, at least, and provided you are willing to overlook the markings painted on his face.
"Tomorrow we take to the road, carrying a strange corpse that was pulled from the sea, and headed into who knows what. Not all the local lords are on good terms with one another. Strangers have intruded into the elven village. Nobody can be trusted. Death...death is out there, waiting for all of us if we are not careful.
"So get plenty of rest, and be sure to have a good breakfast before we leave. Could be a rough day."
"No matter where you go, there you are."

While Bastion and Angel live up, socializing with other people and all that, Daos spends the evening studying his spells like the dull dishrag that he is, on the off-chance that he'll actually have an opportunity to use magic while on the road.

(OOC: Magic Missile, Sleep and Scare are memorized.)

Angel salutes him, slightly tipsy she manages to retain her composure, "If death is out there, he had better not come my way." She gives him a simple nod, pulling Bastian by the hand into the bungalow. "I will see you in the morning."

Dragging Bastian inside she gives him grin, kisses him on the cheek and vanishes into her room.

"Death comes for us all, merc," Maughus says, quietly. "It falls to us every day to escape him one more time."
That said, Maughus returns to lurking in the shadows. He's a good lurker, apparently. After a few seconds he more or less fades away, back into the shadows from whence he came.

====================================================================================

Morning dawns clear and warm, and Fraso is pleased to see that his servants have seen to packing his things while the elderly duo from Culla's household are delivering breakfast. Maughus is already eating, standing at the window and dropping crumbs everywhere while watching the town come awake. The fishermen are long since gone, but various other folk are beginning to move about. Maughus is dressed like he was last night, armor and all, and a small pack and several weapons are leaning against the wall near the door.

Neeri arrives shortly after the food does, and says: "Lord Culla has provided food for your journey, and bids you good morning. He has assigned a squad of soldiers to load the corpse onto your wagon. They will be waiting at the ice house."
"No matter where you go, there you are."

When the group leaves the bungalow, they cannot fail to see a chestnut mare tethered to a nearby tree. Saddle and bridle are of fine quality and excellent condition, the metal parts intentionally blackened. A bedroll and saddlebacks indicate she is outfitted for a longer journey.

As the group comes into view, Liri emerges from the shadow of the tree where she had been sitting. She throws her cloak, no longer needed now the sun's up, over her horse's back and turns to the group. "Good morning" she says cheerfully.
She wears leather armor, a gladius is strapped to her side, and across her chest runs a thick band of leather that seems to hold a number of darts. The part of her hair above the ears is tied back in a ponytail, the rest flows down her back (Legolas-style).

"'Quel amrun," Daos says, the elven phrase for 'good morning.' He looks around. "So today we shall be transporting a corpse. How disappointing for any bandits who cross our path, hoping to find riches or goods."

"Quel amrun" Liri answers, laughing. She looks at the mage appreciatively. The evening before, he had been silent and withdrawn, now he shows spirited humor.

"Yes, we would be a diappointment for bandits. Though I doubt that ordinary bandidts will test us, except if they're a large group. We're well defended." She talks lingua, not wanting any rumors of "elven secrets" to add to the tension at Orr's Bay.

Daos does seem to be in higher spirits this morning. He is also quite brazen, making no effort to hide his ear points and even speaking elvish aloud. There is a confidence to him that suggests he is not worried about being challenged, particularly by the citizens of Orr's Bay.

"Indeed," he agrees. "But I was only jesting. In truth, no bandit would make it far enough to even see the corpse," he says, further demonstrating his confidence.

Angel appears while Dais and Liri are talking, she is dressed in her mis-matched armor, mostly hidden underneath her Green Cloak that flows around her, her Longsword is strapped to her thigh, bow resting on her back.

She has her long Blonde hair tied back in a Pony Tail, her own Elven ears are plain to see.
"Quel amrun." She smiles "Good Morning, Bastian not up yet I see?" She smirks, "One thing I can say is he can drink." Saddling up Praesul she mounts quickly, pulling on her helm as she does so.

"It would be a fool who dares attack a well armed group such as ours."
