The Pod-Caverns of the Sinister Shroom (Game Thread VI)

Jerrard lunges forward, stabbing the podman in the stomach and again in the shoulder. Shay follows up with a slight cut across its face. Bleeding badly, the podman is on its last legs. But it fights on, attempting to grab at Jerrard, but being too slow to catch the wily sorcerer.

Locky runs northwest, moves around the bubbling vat, and jams her hoopak into the ground again. Taking aim, she fires two stones at the podman grappling with Babushka. The first stone is a bullseye in the creature's side, but the second stone goes wide and plops into the third vat with the blue liquid.

Babushka swings the fungus staff at the podman holding her, but it easily blocks the attack with its free hand and then yanks the staff from her, dropping it to the ground. Balling up its fist, it then swings at the gnome, cuffing her across the face.

Locky gasps when Babushka drops the Staff, her first reaction is to jump to the Gnomes aid, however she halts herself, choosing once again to fire Sling stones at the creature.

(OMG Shay really is rubbish isnt he?)

Jerrard attempts to slice at the creature once more, going for it with full gusto. He plans to attack, kill and strike at Babushkas attacker.

Babushka does her best to get at the knife on her belt and stab the podman with it.

Quickly whipping out the knife she borrowed from Shay, Babushka attempts to stab the podman. But luck is against her, as she trips over the fungus staff. She would have fallen, had the podman not been grabbing her. Instead, she just drops her knife, as well.

Meanwhile, Jerrard finishes off the first podman by stabbing it in the throat. Before he can move in to attack the second one, Shay heroically leaps forward, aiming for the creature's back. However, he stumbles a bit on the corpse of the fallen podman and misses entirely. This not only alerts the podman that someone is behind it, but now Jerrard is blocked from attacking from behind, as well.

Seeing Babushka was in trouble, Locky fired two more stones. The first flies overhead and clatters to the ground. The second, however, pelts the podman in the shoulder with a satisfying crack sound.

The remaining podman attempts to swing at Babushka again, but she manages to duck this time.

"Soashaissdrekkaberau!" A harty gnomish swear word leaves Baushka's mouth, then her face lights up. Pummeling the podman with her little fists would be a waste of engergy, but - it shouldn't be a problem to sink her sharp teeth into the arm holding her!

Locky once again goes to let loose two bullets, realising she is low on bullets she fires a stone and a caltrop she finds in her pouches!

Jerrard curses under his breath, blade out still.

He circles round the otherside of the vats, moving as fast as he can.

(Ooc: Jerrard gets two attacks this round, would you allow him to move towards the podman and only have one attack? Normally its attack or move.. I am suggesting half move, half attack)

With the ferocity of a cornered animal, Babushka bites the arm holding her, leaving quite a mark behind.

Jerrard maneuvers around the vat and strikes the podman from the side, but in an attempt to avoid accidentally hitting Babushka, he drops the weapon. Quickly, he bends down to retrieve it.

Meanwhile, Shay strikes again...and misses again, to nobody's great surprise.

Locky fires another stone, which smacks into the podman's thigh. She then pulls out a caltrop, randomly, and fires it, as well. It makes a small cut across the podman's face and then clatters to the ground.

The podman, oblivious to the fact that it is surrounded, continues its assault. It takes a swing at Babushka, but again she is able to duck in time to avoid it.

(OOC: Actually, according to the PHB, "a character can move up to half his allowed distance and still make a melee attack." Jerrard can move around the vat without reaching half of his movement rate allowance, so he can still make both attacks. Which I'll roll up to save time.

Also, Breila, in all my years of DMing, I don't think I've ever had anyone attempt to bite a monster before. I'll just use the same damage value for kobold bites then. They're omnivores, and about the same size as gnomes, so that should work.

Finally, Jenara, according to the Thief's Handbook, caltrops may not be used as missile weapons. However, so the gesture isn't a total waste, I'll rule it still does 1 damage.)

Realising she is out of missles Locky comes in between Babuskha and Jerrard, stabbing at the creature with the pointy end of her hoopak.

Jerrard retrieves his sword from the ground and slices upwards at the creature as they slowly surround it.

Though the podman's blood tasted terrible, biting it had been oddly satisfying, perhaps fulfilling an archaic instinct. Babushka attempts it again, this time scrambling up on the creature's body and trying to get at its throat.

Giving in to her more primal instincts, Babushka attempts to bite the podman's neck, but it is able to keep her at bay. The podman also dodges Jerrard's attack and when Shay attacks from behind again, he stumbles on the corpse of the other podman again, dropping his sword. Locky is the only one with any success, jabbing the podman with the point of her hoopak.

The Podman ignores all of this, and swings again, catching Babushka in the face and likely giving her quite a shiner in the process.

For once, Babushka is at the end of her wit, beaten. She tries to keep as far away of the podman's body as their arm's lengths allow, so that her friends can attack the ennemy with less concern about hitting her.

Locky jabs at the creature with her hoopak once more, trying to extract its grasp from Babuskha.

"Ugh these ones are far stronger!" She says as she attacks.
