Re: OOC Thread
A Potion of Healing restores 2d4+2 HP, not 1d8 HP, like a Cure Light Wounds spell.

Re: OOC Thread
Too bad I have to go away just now (will be back on the 31st).
My plan for Ouragana now is as follows:
If Frisno says they are going after movement, she will create dancing lights to distract and confuse the spiders.
Otherwise, or in the next round, she will cast grease in the area behind the two nearest spiders to hinder the advance of the next ones.
In subsequent rounds, she will use the bolts of magical energy from the wand, first on Frisno to see if that has any effect on the spiders.

There's more to me than meets the eye...
Re: OOC Thread
Yes, but I'm afraid she's still just over 10 pounds into moderate encumbrance even without the spider.Nuke wrote:Jaded, she dropped the other spider to reduce her encumbrance.
Re: OOC Thread
That was a suprise! Didn't expect her to show up..

Re: OOC Thread
Yes, I figured I'd leave it to the dice on how it would turn out. Either she would beat Frisno, or Frisno would beat her; or maybe they'd just keep each other busy while the party finished the spiders. But I certainly didn't expect a critical backstab. Ouch.
I like it, though. Makes Tialis seem like a badass and now she can be a reoccurring character since she lived.

I'm glad she has, Arei needs a connection to her people.

Re: OOC Thread
I went ahead and copied and pasted my write-ups for cantrips and the arc system to the Lost Souls Handbook. This way it isn't necessary to search through the OOC thread to find these posts, making them easier to reference.
Speaking of cantrips, I just remembered that they only have a range of 10 feet, according to the PHB. This is something I had completely forgotten about for the past three battles. Oops.

Re: OOC Thread
I've been working some more on the lore of this game. I came up with some cool things I wanted to share with you. These are things you may or may not ever actually encounter in the game. But I thought they should be 'out there' to help make the world seem more interesting and to show that things are going on even if they have nothing to do with the PCs.
These five things are all fairly well known, but I leave it up to you if your characters have ever heard of them or not.
Primals - A band of lycanthropic gnolls that roam the seas. Under the light of the full red moon, they transform, becoming stronger, larger and scarier. Basically, they become super gnolls. Or maybe like Hulk gnolls (GNOLLS SMASH!). This odd strand of lycanthropy was created by the Primals and they intentionally infect their own with it. They worship the moon and chaos, and believe that the curse better attunes them to their inner-beasts. They refer to their transformed state as their 'true selves.' They're wild, crazy, and very violent. Few who encounter them in their transformed state live to tell the tale.
Greymantles - A family of vampire pirates. Their matron was actually Lady Greymantle, one of the Eonian imperial family members. She strives to rebuild the lost family by siring new vampires. So, yeah, she's over 300 years old at this point. Anyway, it's said there are at least 14 Greymantles now, with about 9 ships between them. They sleep in the hold during the day, while their charmed thralls guide the ships. They are infamous for raiding towns and other ships for slaves and blood. Supposedly they are very picky about who they bring into the family, so they just kill most of their victims (as opposed to turning them). The Greymantles are shrouded in myth and legend, and there are so many rumors about them (some that contradict each other), so it's hard to suss out what is true and what is not.
Children of Meer - A small cult of water genasi that have banded together for mutual benefit. They believe that they are a superior race and seek to pass on their genes to other 'mortals' and one day replace them altogether through crossbreeding. Basically, they freely offer their bodies to anyone who wants them; however, any genasi children that are born from such unions are claimed by the cultists to be raised among them. Some say they even kidnap other genasi children that are not their own.
Magi of the Deep - A guild and academy for wizards in Immerfort. Whereas the Storm Sorcerers focus on training mages to survive on ships, the Magi of the Deep teach their students to survive beneath the waves. Their ultimate goal is to uncover lost artifacts and ruins under the sea that crashed there when Eonia fell. They have an undersea facility where they test spells and magic items at various depths and pressures. Their emblem is that of a kraken. They have something of a rivalry with the Storm Sorcerers. The Storm Sorcerers see the Magi of the Deep as stuffy and elitist. The Magi of the Deep see the Storm Sorcerers as uncultured mercenaries, selling their skills off to the highest bidder.
Soulbiter - Soulbiter is a tribe of orc pirates--the most dangerous and well-known of orc pirates. Their leader, Ghamul Muk, it is said, is supposedly part black dragon. The stories claim he has wings and can breathe acid; that he's incredibly strong and fast and over 100 years old. These are not substantiated; however, the stories that he commands a brood of black dragons are. Soulbiter controls a fleet of ships that sometimes work together and sometimes apart, but just about every ship has at least one black dragon with it; usually either flying or swimming alongside the vessel.
Just thought these things might give the world a bit more flavor. If you guys can think of anything cool to add, just let me know. I'll add these to the Lost Souls Handbook thread in good time.

Re: OOC Thread
Off-topic, but I forgot to mention that Areilon has sobered up and is level-headed again (well level-headed for her, I mean
).
Anyway, I have an announcement. I'm not sure if any of you realize, but this is a special day--June 15th. It is the one year anniversary of Lost Souls here at Planet! Well, this calls for a celebration...
Celebrate Good Times! Come on!
The PCs have only known each other for two weeks in-game, but as hard as it is to believe, it's really been a year in the real world since we started. (Heck the very first quest, the aarakocra one, took up the whole summer alone!) I was hoping we'd finish the first arc before today, but it looks like that won't happen. We're fairly close, though.
To reward everyone for sticking with it this long, I grant all four PCs 1,000 XP each (to be received at the end of the current chapter).
Looking forward to see what year two brings!

Re: OOC Thread
Yay she's sober! And yay a whole year, at least four of us survived...
Players (and Dm's) it seems come and go.... Some of us stick with it!
Having fun, want my sword back!

Re: OOC Thread
Yeah, a pity we've had two drop-outs so far. But four PCs is enough. And I'm grateful the four of you have hung around this long.
Re: OOC Thread
Drop outs happen, one of those things. I'm glad you aren't letting it get you down.
I actually find DMs walking out more annoying (I know I did it, but I had reasons, and I passed over the reins) but ones that leave with no explanation bug me.

Re: OOC Thread
Yeah, that keeps happening here, too.
In another forum, every single time someone announces a 2E game and I sign up, the person who started the thread immediately vanishes. I'm starting to think I might be cursed.

Re: OOC Thread
Bugs me more, I go out of my way to help these people, set up forums, make a character (if I don't have a full history and personality they arent made..) so it takes a while...
Thanks for putting up with us! I know its tough sometimes.
