Re: OOC Thread
Ah you told me about the pistols a while back, up to 1,000gp. She will sell them before the group splits, divide the money equally and convert hers to a suitable gem.
The party deserves a fair share.

Re: OOC Thread
Heck, I thought I was done with Areilon. Alright, fine, but it'll have to wait. I'm kind of swamped with everyone else right now. :\
Okay, so it looks like Ouragana's scene is done. So now is the time to pick new spells and so forth.
Because she is an alumna of the academy, she gets a discount on new spells. It's 50 gold for a 1st level spell and 100 gold for a 2nd level spell. Keep in mind that due to her INT, she can only know 11 spells for each spell level (not including ones she researches herself).

Honestly thought the money might help Oura with her studies..!

Re: OOC Thread
Does she have to pay for every attempt she makes, or only for the spells she manages to copy into her book?
For first level, she will try color spray, light, hypnotism and shield
For second level, it will be web, irritation and rope trick.

Re: OOC Thread
She pays for each attempt.
Also, remember I said she can only have 11 spells total for each spell level, not including researched ones. As she already has 9 first level spells, that means she can only learn two more. So is the order you gave there the order of priority?

Re: OOC Thread
Val will do Dagger as a WP, Leatherworking as a NWP.
As for the other time, she will spend it training Mist further and fashioning some type of harness for riders. And bumming around the smaller islands.
She will also teach Arei to swim and ride (as a passenger)
Also, the spare Trident has to go, too much weight. But might as well get a dagger.

Re: OOC Thread
Okay, well dagger should be easy enough to learn. As for leatherworking, maybe she goes to a town and stays there for a month or so while she learns? Apprenticing under a master, maybe? Learning to use a dagger will cost her 50 gp and learning leatherworking, I suppose if she goes to a town and learns it from a master will cost maybe 100 gp.Nuke wrote:Val will do Dagger as a WP, Leatherworking as a NWP.
So just moving from port to port, staying at inns, that kind of thing?Nuke wrote:As for the other time, she will spend it training Mist further and fashioning some type of harness for riders. And bumming around the smaller islands.
Okay. She sells the trident for 7 gp, then buys a dagger for 2 gp.Nuke wrote:Also, the spare Trident has to go, too much weight. But might as well get a dagger.
Re: OOC Thread
Well, don't have the funds for that. Let's just hold the NWP slot this time. Do the dagger.
Bumming, more roughing it. Traveling on Mist, sleeping under the stars kinda thing. Living off the land and sea. Visiting the occasional village or town.

Re: OOC Thread
Well, once I retcon the money from Areilon's pistols in there, there will probably be more. I suppose I should do that now, actually.
So before the party split, Areilon sold her pistols for 500 each (they are used, after all), earning 1,000 gold pieces which she splits up between the four, so everyone gets 250 GP. I'll add this to everyone's inventories.
So she spends a month on the Bullring and earns 3 gp, then spends 11 months bumming around, costing her 22 gp. She spends 50 gp learning to use a dagger and 100 gp learning leather-working. This leaves her with 224 gp before worrying about the stronger armor and the saddle, which I haven't gotten around to figuring out just yet.

She doesn't really have any survival skills, so she can't totally feed herself on that alone. So I'll say she'll need to spend 2 gold pieces a month to live a minimalist lifestyle like you describe.Nuke wrote:Bumming, more roughing it. Traveling on Mist, sleeping under the stars kinda thing. Re: OOC Thread
Oh, right. I forgot about the spells she already had. For first level, it will be Color Spray and Shield, then.
For second level, include continual light.
Rolls for Color Spray and Shield: 1d100=82, 1d100=17, she really has a problem with potentially agressive spells!
Rolls for Web, Irritation, Rope Trick and Continual Light: 1d100=24, 1d100=28, 1d100=76, 1d100=23 So she can't do the rope trick, shame. But Web and Irritation are useful nonlethal combat spells, I think.
She will spend only as much time in the academy as needed to learn the spells. For the rest, she would prefer to be on training voyages, preferably with free room and board, e.g. as a navigation teacher for younger students.
She also wants a full set of spare clothes now (same as before, just to make it easire to keep clean). She leaves the stone arrowhead with the library. She buys 7 more meals of iron rations. If it's possible, she'll fill the empty bottle with healing potion, otherwise discard the bottle and buy healing potions. Any money that remains after covering expenses, she will put into more pearls for her necklace, saving only 20GP and change.

Great deal, considering they were an after thought!JadedDM wrote:Well, once I retcon the money from Areilon's pistols in there, there will probably be more. I suppose I should do that now, actually.

No rush, because I know the others need more time, but can she trade in say 300gp for another gem? And I recall a mention of xp when she sold them? Like I say no rush...

Re: OOC Thread
Okay, 500 gp spent on learning new spells.
Spare set of clothes cost her 4 gold and 1 silver.
Empty bottle removed, and I suppose she could buy healing potions in Sanctuary when the Bullring drops off Jocelyn and Noah. But how many? They're 62 GP each for a non-follower.
Ouragana is no longer in encumbrance now.

Re: OOC Thread
OK, Val can afford the leatherworking then. That will kill some time.
I guess she will bounce from town to town enjoying the time off, but listening for leads to further adventure.

Re: OOC Thread
Okay, building a saddle for Mist--which I assume Val will use her new-found leatherworking skills to make herself--will cost 10 gold pieces for materials and such. However, making it will require a leatherworking check (8 or less on a 1d20), and she'll have to keep paying the money for new materials until she gets it right. She can also commission someone else to build it by paying 30 gp instead.
As for the improved armor, the best thing I could think up was masterwork shark hide armor. It's basically hide +1, but the bonus is non-magical. You can buy it for 315 gp. Or you can try to make it yourself, although this is tricky. You'll need an armor workshop, which will rent for a minimal of 50 gp a month. It will take 8 weeks for each try (and cost 7 gp in materials for each attempt) and you need to roll a 1 or 2 on your leatherworking check (you get a -3 to your check because hide isn't that hard to make, so 1d20-3 with a 2 or less roll).
