Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
"I have a whopper for you all! An old sea captain was sitting on a bench near the wharf when a young man walked up and sat down. The young man had spiked hair and each spike was a different color.... green, red, orange, blue, and yellow.
The young man noticed that the captain was staring at him.
"What's the matter old timer—never done anything wild in your life?"
The old captain snorted. "Got drunk once and married a parrot. I was just wondering if you were my son!"

Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
The ladies erupt with laughter, cackling loudly at Sorin's joke. The children don't seem to quite understand but laugh along anyway with the ladies. Caavus has a sour look on his face, he butt's in, "Alright, alright, pretty good. But now listen to a real gem. There was once a man who went to the store looking for some new cutlery. Fork handles he wanted, four candles he got! Haha haha haha!"
Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
Meran looks up, distracted by the laughter from the unsociable guy. He looks deadpan at the joke-tellers, understanding what was said but seeing no hint of humour. He nodes to them, silent for once, and heads back on deck, thinking: ~That hooded bloke must be pretending to be an assassin for some reason. Odd. A real one wouldn't look like one.~
On reaching the deck he looks round and has a listen to anything, even if it's just to the wind and the waves.

Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
Hihim heads up onto the main deck, leaving the other passengers and his fellow contractors in the hold. His eyes adjust slowly to the contrast in light, the world around him was grey and flat with little variance in the lighting. Clouds, mist and the sea all blending into one, was quite disorienting to the senses for a non sailor (Make a d20 Constitution check please). It was difficult to get any bearing on North, South, East, West, or up and down for that matter! The crew work on pulling ropes, which whistle gently in the wind. And water laps against the hull.
Someone shouts from the bow, "Think there's something coming up not too far now Captain!" This is audible down in the hold too.
The two young siblings have an exchange, "Kalle, let's go up and have a look, that last joke was rubbish."
"Yeah I didn't really get it, but the story was fun. Race you Elsa!" and scamper upstairs.
Caavus sit's down disgruntled, the ladies were too polite to say anything but children are sometime the most honest...

Sornin will reply with "It is knife to meet you!" he will chuckle at his own pun. "By chance do you know what to do with a sick boat?"
He will pause to see if anyone will answer.
If no one will get it "You take it to the doc!"

Meran feels a bit strange and tries to find something study to hang on to.
{Wasn't sure if you meant CON saving throw. Anyway, d20: 12. Happy if you want to add mods or simply re-roll it.}

Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
Arabella pipes up "Ohh ohh, wait! I've got it! Give it cod liver oil!"
"Shipwright as rain!" Isabel chips in
"Scuttle the bugger!" Annabelle offers.
They moan in unison as their guesses are wrong and chuckle at the solution, praising Sorin and his jokes.
[OOC, I did mean a CON saving throw, you passed with a 12 in any case
]
Meran steadies himself on a railing and becomes used to the surroundings, the children hurry up onto the deck looking for land, and a few minutes later Patrice, the dark skinned man, also appears on the deck. Patrice doesn't seem to hold his stomach all that well though and promptly throws up over edge of the ferry.
The sailor out that the front of the ferry calls out "Land ho lads and lasses! There's Breaker's Wall. Reduce speed and set a course East!" The crew and captain become busy with moving the boat and indeed land does appear, towering out of the water almost vertically for a good 40 or 50 meters was a cliff face, bearing dark, exposed rock. At the crew's announcement the rest of the passengers begin making themselves ready to depart and look like they will be making their way upstairs to see too. The hooded figure remains stoic as ever.

Hoping to make one last impression on the ladies. Sornin will regale them with a short two verse song about making safe harbour after a short voyage.
Having a strong emphasis about the party at the local tavern after the safe landing.
He will then, walk up the hooded figure, and ask how they could possibly not be having a good time with all the merriment.

Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
Meran checks that he's got everything and waits for when it's time to get off the boat, alternately eyeing the land mass in front of them and looking around for Jason, who seems to be a natural-born leader.
Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
At the announcement, Jason scoops up his dice and puts them away. He then gets to his feet and heads above deck to take a look at his new home.
Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
Rose watched Sornin's interchange ready to react she liked the the cut of the performers jib and didn't like the hooded figure at all so far

Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
At Sorin's attempt to start a conversation with the hooded figure, the is no verbal response. After a few moments of silence from the figure, they rise, still facing away from anyone. It's at this point that anyone watching can make out they are somewhere between 5 and 6 feet tall (150-180cm) and have a slender build, the shoulders in particular do not appear very broad. The hooded figure swiftly turns around and heads for the ladder leading out of the hold towards the deck. In doing so, they bump past Sorin wordlessly. This small nudge would be shoulder on shoulder but due to Sorin's height it is more waist to shoulder. This does give him the chance to get a glimpse under the hood though and he sees fair skin, a face with sharp features that would be quite pleasing to the eye, and a few strands of blonde hair.
On deck, the party and the passengers watch the cliff face near the Ferry. The speed dropped and the crew ready oars to paddle their way for the last part of the journey. Heading West, the cliffs descend in height and a natural harbour comes into view. There is a small beach in the centre (North), the East and West sides are low rocky arms. Generally making the shape of a horseshoe to provide calmer waters. There is a small wooden walkway extending a few metres out from the North-East corner that the ferry is heading towards. At this point the Captain comes onto the deck and begins giving a quick tour of their destination. "Feat your eyes, Port Collins, on the Isle of Wovara. There's the 'dock'" He says pointing to the small wooden walkway. "The beach, and over there on West side is the Shanty Tavern, its that wooden one near the water, but you actually sit outside, inside is just for the goods. Most people don't have wooden buildings yet, still in progress, and most live under tent and canvas constructions. That tall canvas thing in the middle is Commonwealth Farm. It's covered from the elements and everyone goes there to meet, cook, socialise, work on the farm, or buy supplies. And higher up on the East, the nice looking fully wooden house, well that's The Manor House, Lord Collins' residence in the making. Looks pretty nice huh? They're going to paint it red with white window frames when it's all ready." The Captain says proudly. "Now, Barker, and Brightshield, and the rest of you for that matter, Miss Freya, she's the island's delegate, runs this whole place, she is up in The Manor House, lives there. Miss Freya will want to see you to tell you about this job you've signed up for." The Captain concludes. Those on the deck can see Port Coolins is mostly a camp of tents and canvas constructions. Apart from the three places the captain mentioned, not much is made out of wood just yet. Nevertheless the place looks busy, some children play on the beach, there's smoke from a campfire at Commonwealth farm, figures of people are walking about in between the tents, there are people up in the treeline too. In fact on of the trees closest to the settlement falls silently, almost gracefully, until figures surround it, hacking the timber apart.
All the passengers on deck are looking at Port Collins, with admiration, anticipation, excitement. Not much sound is made as they take in the view, each thinking of their own dreams and ambitions and what this place holds for them. The most excited is the young boy who has climbed onto the railing to get a better view and is waving emphatically at the children on the beach. A crewman calls out, "Uh Captain, I think we're running a little low in the water, with the extra cargo and passengers." In a worried voice. The Captain replies patronisingly, "Well we're hardly going to turn around now!" and chuckles to himself.

Re: Chapter 1, Landing at Port Collins
When there's a clear method of getting off the ship, gangplank or otherwise, Meran says, "Thank you Captain. May the rest of your day be equally as bright."
Unless interrupted, he starts to get off the boat and head towards The Manor House and Miss Freya.
